The purpose of these projects was to improve pedestrian safety and accessibility for those traveling in the named areas by installing new sidewalks, alley entrances, ADA curb ramps, ADA driveway retrofits, asphalt patching and paving, upgraded street lighting, and if needed, relocating signs, water meters and valves, mailboxes, and utility boxes.

PIO services on these projects included communication with the project team, preparing a Public Information and Outreach Plan, including constraints to area businesses and residences, maintaining a hotline, preparing notifications and mailing or hand distributing them to properties, designing and distributing door hangers for driveway restrictions, asphalt work, and water shut offs, and item relocation letters for properties with items conflicting with the City’s Right-of-Way.

These exhibits were especially helpful in conveying important item relocation information to the property owners for the Atlanta Avenue: 18^th Place to 19^th Place project. YPMO identified these item conflicts in advance, such as mailboxes, fences, and landscaping that encroached on the City’s ROW and directly communicated with residents that these items would be relocated/removed to allow for the installation of the new sidewalk. YPMO staff provided Spanish translation and interpretation when speaking with residents and worked with the City to address any concerns surrounding the project ahead of construction phase, which began in September 2025.
